Reading Time: 3 minutes

This July, we’re celebrating a very special milestone: 5 years of Instinct on Tarporley High Street.

And while today Instinct is home to a thriving community of members, coaches, classes, personal training, wellbeing services and plenty of post-session coffees, our journey started somewhere much smaller.

In fact, it started in 2015, inside a small office block on Portal Business Park, where six people in one session felt like a squeeze.

Like every member who walks through our doors, we had to start at the beginning. Those early days were full of long hours, hard work, plenty of learning and a clear vision for what Instinct could become.

From day one, our principles were simple:

  • Deliver a highly personalised service
  • Create an inclusive and supportive environment
  • Build long-term relationships, not quick wins

And 11 years later, that still hasn’t changed.

From Small Beginnings to the High Street

As Instinct grew, it became clear that space was our biggest limitation. The coaching, community and demand were all there, but we needed room to grow into the gym we knew Tarporley deserved.

That’s when Enigma saw the potential in what was being built.

With their belief, investment and shared commitment to health and wellbeing, Instinct was able to take the next step, even navigating the challenges of Covid and lockdown along the way.

Then came the opportunity to regenerate a familiar spot in the village: the old Crown pub on Tarporley High Street.

Building work began, and in March 2021, Instinct moved into its new home.

From that moment, everything accelerated.

Membership grew from 60 to 300. The team grew. The timetable grew. The energy grew. But most importantly, the community grew.

More Than Just a Gym

Over the last five years on the High Street, Instinct has become so much more than a place to train.

It has become a place where people feel known, supported and encouraged, whether they are stepping into the gym for the very first time, returning after time away, rebuilding confidence, recovering from injury or simply wanting to feel more like themselves again.

We’ve always believed a gym should be more than four walls and equipment.

That belief has taken us beyond the gym floor and into the local community, from primary school sports days and Easter egg hunts to carnivals, initiatives supporting the elderly community and, of course, the much-loved Santa Dash at Christmas.

Instinct has become part of the fabric of Tarporley, and we’re incredibly proud of that.

The People Who Made It Possible

This year, a handful of our members will celebrate 10 years of training with us.

In an industry often known for short-term memberships and quick fixes, that means a lot.

It means people have trusted us with their health, fitness and wellbeing for almost a decade. It means they’ve grown with us, adapted with us and been part of the journey from the very beginning.

We’ve grown from a small office block to a High Street facility. We’ve expanded our coaching, our classes, our team and our services.

But the heart of Instinct has stayed the same.

We are here to create a welcoming, supportive environment where people feel comfortable starting, continuing and progressing their fitness journey, no matter their age, ability or experience.

Celebrating 5 Years on the High Street

So this July, we’re celebrating.

We’re celebrating 5 years of Instinct on Tarporley High Street.

We’re celebrating the members who have been with us since the early days.

We’re celebrating the people who have joined us along the way.

We’re celebrating the coaches, the community, the friendships, the laughs, the hard work, the coffee catch-ups, the first sessions, the personal bests and every small win in between.

Because whether you’re a brand-new member, a long-standing part of the Instinct family, or a business that started in a six-person office block…

Everyone starts somewhere.

And we’re so proud of where Instinct has grown to today.
